Flora Di Meo – Principal Therapist

I was born and raised in France. My early interest in manual therapies lead me to complete a 5 year degree in Osteopathy (Superior Institute of Osteopathy of Aix-en-Provence) in 2012. I moved to Australia once graduated, began my Australian career in manual therapies by providing treatments as a volunteer before completing my qualifications as a Remedial Massage Therapist.

My mission is to prevent pain and injuries, restore mobility, homeostasis and help people to improve their health to reach their potential. I value honesty, excellence in my services.
All I wants to see is improvements in my clients health and help them to find a solution to their issues and restore their hope.
My extensive studies in manual therapies have provided me with a greater understanding and knowledge of the interrelationship between anatomy, physiology and pathology and our bodies systems and structures.
I maintains as part of her massage therapy protocol, a commitment to the 5 principles of osteopathy.

Your health is your biggest asset.

I created my business Still Point Therapy in 2013. I am specialised in musculo-squeletical issues, preventative treatments, post-traumatic treatment, rehabilitation and helping people that experience headaches and migraines. I acknowledges that what makes a person is body, mind and spirits.
I believes that everyone deserves a healthy body and a happy life when they are taking the responsibility of themselves, so I am prepared to help these people to take responsibility in their health and archive their goals.

➢ Correlation of structure and function:  Andrew Taylor still the founder of osteopathy described in 1874, that “the structure govern the function”. In his opinion, the dis-rupture of the structure (bones, organs, membranes, muscles…) can create illness, which is the result of an unbalance in the anatomy followed by the physiology. To prevent illness and heal it, the segments must be adjusted to the normality. The body needs to work in harmony and regardless to it’s shapes, heath need to be present.

Rupture in mobility in structure—-) unbalance in physiology—-) pathology

➢ The body is whole unit: there are different systems in the body (musculo-squeletic, physiologic, aponevrotico-facial, circulation, nervous) and they all work together in harmony. Therefore, one dysfunction can affect the rest of the body. That is why it is important to work on all the different structures and different level in order to help the body to heal.

➢ Life is movement: if a part of the body is not used or the mobility is slower, the area is going to be destroyed to save energy and nutrients. This is the “least effort law”. Where there is absence of movement, there is “stasis” then death. Also, the minor movements govern the major movements so it is important to look for the minor restrictions in order to rehabilitate the mobility.

➢ “The rule of the artery is supreme”: where the blood doesn’t flow, there is no recovery possible. The circulation has to be free to provide the adequate nutrients to the body and that a therapist’s job to restore the blood flow that can be partly blocked by a muscle, a joint, or a fascia for example.

➢ Principal of self-regulation: the body is capable to regulate and fix itself when the Homeostasis is in good conditions. The therapist doesn’t fix the person but send the information to the body to restore itself and go back into balance.

There is always an answer, there is always a solution.
You must always keep searching.

I am aware that not all issues we suffer as humans can be easily resolved. Some conditions can be very difficult to heal and treat. Genetics, family history, viruses and bacteria can take a serious toll on our wellbeing. This is why I believes a therapist has to be humble, know his/her limits and work in hands with doctors, surgeons, physiotherapists, psychologists and others.

As a remedial massage therapist, I am able to utilise my knowledge and skills to treat the body and muscles in many different ways. I search for the origin of the pain or discomfort across all the different tissues and adjusts the techniques suit each individual’s needs. As a remedial massage therapist, I can advise and recommend stretching and exercises to my clients. In fact, this part of the treatment is equally important, and ensures clients can participate to their recovery, and extend their opportunity to reach their full wellness potential.

I allow time between treatment sessions to give your body some time to adjust and adapt to the healing process. I will be be honest in my assessment of your wellbeing needs and discuss the optimum treatment protocol, be it just one session or several, to reach your goals. Your health and satisfaction is what matters to her.

Whatever your goals, I will do my best to help you to achieve it.
